Some names just don’t scream “Rock & Roll!”
There are many reasons for rock stars to use a stage name. Maybe their real name is lame, tough to spell, hard to pronounce, or they need something to project the desired image to the audience.
You probably haven’t heard of Farrokh Bulsara, but you do know his voice. Maybe you couldn’t pick Michael Peter Balzary out of a crowd, but you know the sound of his bass when you hear it. Robert Alan Zimmerman might not ring a bell, but you’ve certainly heard a few of the songs he’s written.
