Marcy Playground

The rock band Marcy Playground currently consists of three members, John Wozniak, Dylan Keefe, and Shlomi Lavie. The band was named after  the school Wozniak attended while he was child growing up in Minneapolis.

After attending two years of college Wozniak packed up and moved to New York City where he met up with his old friend/songwriter, Jared Kotler, together the two recorded a few demo records which caught the attention of some Columbia Records executives…Bass  guitarist Dylan Keefe was introduced to the duo by a mutual friend a while later.

Just like that, [lastfm]Marcy Playground[/lastfm] was established and they began playing gigs in the NYC area. In 1995, Marcy was officially signed to Columbia Records, but after being signed Wozniak and Kotler began to have issues with one another. They had so mnay problems that Kotler decided to walk away from the band. Kotler was replaced by Dan Rieser.

In 1997, Marcy Playground released their first self titled debut album. The albums first single, Poppies, did not really make a dent on the music charts but their follow up single, Sex & Candy, shot to number 1! Along with singles like Saint Joe on the School Bus and Sherry Frasier it allowed their first album to be certified Platinum.

The band has since released 3 more albums: Shapeshifter (2009) MP3(2004) Leaving Wonderland…In a Fit of Rage (2009), and will be releasing their 5th studio album, Indaba Remixes from Wonderland, later this month on September 28th!

Let’s see if the guys decides to unleash some new material for the fans on Saturday! Should be exciting!
