[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Florence and the Machine[/lastfm] are preparing for their sophomore album, which reportedly will appeal to a broader audience, according to Spinner.com.
The band’s guitarist Rob Ackroyd mentioned that the group is hoping to record at the famous Abbey Road studio in April or May of this year. Material for this upcoming record has been in the works since last fall.
Frontwoman Florence Welch has not commented on the progress of the band’s next album. Ackroyd, however, has hinted that his interest in “hip-hop and American indie” has combined with Welch’s pop tendencies, and has seemed to reach the masses as far as their target audience goes.
The band will be heading out on a North American tour, starting on April 9 in New York City and ending April 18 at Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. They will also be opening for U2 on their current tour.
