Last.fm Trends: Wasted Light Shines On Top Tracks
It’s been two weeks since our last update, and a certain British solo star is still rolling at the tip of the Top Tracks chart. But which seasoned rockers have also been monopolising the Top Tracks this week? Have The Strokes made it back for round two?
Last.fm Trends finds out.
For the third week running, Adele has hung onto the Top Tracks #1 spot, refusing to be pushed out by fellow female pop royalty Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and Rihanna, who all appear in the top ten this week. “Rolling In The Deep” has clocked up a whopping 41,673 listeners this week alone, reaching 1,623,528 scrobbles in total.
But this week’s most noticeable change is the sudden appearance of an old favorite in our chart: the Foo Fighters. Their new single “Rope” snuck in at #13 last week, having climbed 190 places from the week before, but this week sees it shoot up to second place.
Last week’s release of their anticipated seventh studio album, Wasted Light has led to the album taking over the charts. Despite not quite being able to knock Adele from #1, six tracks from the album have made it into the Top Tracks’ top ten. “Rope” earned 36,505 listeners last week, and “Bridge Burning”, the first track from Wasted Light, is at #3, with 154,083 scrobbles overall.
Dave Grohl’s gang have been a firm favorite of Last.fm users over the years, and their scrobbles currently stand at 96,729,282 plays. With the ability to still put out avidly listened to records after 17 years together, it’ll be interesting to see if Wasted Light will continue to spend time at the top end of the Top Tracks chart.
