Radio.com teams from Chicago, Atlanta and Cleveland are battling the hot Tennessee sun to cover Bonnaroo all weekend long. Stay tuned!

Day one of Bonnaroo 2011 could not have gone any better. Bands like [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Wavves[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Deerhunter[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Best Coast[/lastfm], and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Sleigh Bells [/lastfm]highlighted the late afternoon and evening. With a predominately indie-rock lineup, the crowd has vastly changed since past years when hippies and jam bands ruled the fest.

The evening’s top performance easily came from [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Sleigh Bells.[/lastfm] The Brooklyn duo emerged as “Iron Man” rocked the speakers. Derek’s Marshall guitar stack with LED lights took up much of the stage and let the audience know that it was about to get extremely loud. Both he and Alexis ripped through their set, hitting most songs off of their 2010 release Treats including “Rill Rill”, “Infinity Guitars”, “Crown on the Ground”, “A/B Machines”, “Riot Rhythm”, and more.

[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Wavves[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Best Coast[/lastfm] helped cool down the afternoon crowd. The latter band’s Bethany Cosentino and crew brought their West Coast surfer sounds to Manchester and debuted a new track called “Gone Again.” It will be released next week. Best Coast also hit songs like “Crazy For You”, “Summer Mood”, “Boyfriend”, and “Our Deal.”

Wavves, for their part, proclaimed themselves “King of the Beach.”
