AWOL2

[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]AWOLNATION[/lastfm] is gearing up to be one of the year’s biggest alternative breakthroughs, set up quite nicely by the Top 5 hit “Sail.” The guy behind the project, Aaron Bruno, while in the midst of being at a real low point in his life, with no money at all, came up with this gem that turned things around.

Get the story behind this song and watch the band live from the Last.fm Discover studio.

“Sail”

In Aaron’s words, “Sail” was a total fluke and an accident. While taking a quick break from writing songs in hopes of them being used by other artists, the song was born. Within two-hours, “Sail” was done and the verison you hear on the debut album Megalithic Symphony is pretty close to it’s demo form.

“Kill Your Heroes”

“Soul Wars”

Vocalist and songwriter Aaron Bruno is in session for Last.fm Discover along with Dav Amezcua on bass, Christopher Thorn on guitar, Kenny Carkeet on keyboards and guitar and Hayden Scott on drums.

“Guilty Filthy Soul”

After paying his dues in the bands Ice Monkeys, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Hometown Hero [/lastfm]and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Under The Influence Of Giants[/lastfm], Aaron Bruno took things into his own hands and started AWOLNATION. Like his tastes in music, AWOLNATION’s debut album Megalithic Symphony dips into many sounds.[pullquote quote=”I wanted the record to be a good book you can read or a good movie you can watch.” credit=”Aaron Bruno”] This real sincere fan of music can go from [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Radiohead[/lastfm] to [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Prince[/lastfm] to [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Can[/lastfm] to [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Pink Floyd [/lastfm]to [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Michael Jackson [/lastfm]to [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]The Flaming Lips [/lastfm]to [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Neil Young [/lastfm]to [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Harry Nilsson [/lastfm]and top it all with some punk and metal, while still looking to discover anything me might has missed!
