Austin City Limits Festival: Interviews With Young The Giant, AWOLNATION, And More
Our friends at Myspace are in Austin this weekend covering the Austin City Limits Festival.
We’re big fans of [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Young the Giant[/lastfm]. Today the Irvine, CA band stopped by to chat about their current tour with [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Incubus[/lastfm], their new remix EP, and their experience at the VMAs.
A deluge of rain hit Austin this afternoon but that didn’t stop [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]AWOLNATION[/lastfm] from coming by to chat with us. The group, led by singer Aaron Bruno, discussed performing live, songwriting together and how often people crowd surf at their shows. Plus, the musician told us what fans can expect from them next.
[lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Alexander Ebert[/lastfm], frontman for [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes[/lastfm], recorded his recent solo record completely alone in his house. The singer/guitarist stopped by to tell us how he’s translated that solitary experience to a full band live show. Plus, Ebert teases the next Edward Sharpe record.
And finally, Detroit rock band [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.[/lastfm] also stopped in to discuss their recent burst into the musical spotlight. This trio, originally a duo, told us about their inception, what it’s like to be a band in today’s Detroit music scene and what’s coming up next. Pro tip: Don’t believe everything said about Insane Clown Posse.
