Thank you for putting the time and effort into making this show a wonderful listen, this is what made fining new music difficult when HFS was away, if i didnt happen to be listening the exact moment a new song was on the radio then i’d not hear it. I enjoyed Mr. Jerrys HFS on 94.7 down the road very much, but it did not have a new music program like this. That station played a lot of new music also, but putting the songs up the website like this is a brillant idea! It gives listeners time to go back give those songs another listen (it takes me about 3 listens for me to really get a feel for a song), or catch up on last sundays show if they missed it. I usually work sunday nights, and can’t always be listening at the time of the program. So updating this page on is very much appreciated! (I kno i’m a little behind been buzy, but thats my point, its still here when i have time. thank u!)

    Songs I enjoyed:

The Lonely Forest- Turn Off This Song and Go Outside enjoyable little song 3 point 5 popcorns

m83 “Midnight City” This song is refreshing. It would fit perfectly in between Peter Gabriel and ub40 or something back in the 80s. Happy to hear WHFS playing stuff that isnt some band with a guitar tone with too much distortion or too much reverb on it in the usual 2/4 3/4 4/4 time guitar verse chorus verse chrous middle 8 break chrous (papa bug, hooberstank, lincoln park). Not that theres anything wrong with that sound or those time sigs (not that theres anything wrong with that- most alt songs are one of those and this one not far off ), but the different instuments, and use of synth, and sax makes my ears happy! Different is good. Def a throwback type of song that is super neat to see that was found for this program. Plus i hear it one time at like 2 am when i was leaving work so i had a happy dive home. 4 popcorns

Jane’s Addiction “Underground”- since this is my favorite record of the year i’m a little biased here, but this song kicks astronaut. It f*cking rocks! Its supergnalrley in everway and does let up at during its three mins and seven seconds. Thank you Janes Addiction for making an excellent record that is not only musically interesting, but so damn easy for me to relate to personally! And what makes music important to someone, well for me if i can make an emotional connection to not only the music, but the subject matter. Good and clever lyrics are are bonus and the perry does not disapoint. He is up there in that class with Eddie Vedder, Morrissey, Joe Strummer, and Joe Jackson as far as just being a damn fine lyric writer. He does wonderful things with the english language in words, paints a wonderful mental picture, and coulpled with such brillaint music, creates what for me, is a very powerful set of emotions during the listening time when not on this song, but the entire time that the record is on.
the very rare top of the pops 5 popcorns

Joy Formitable- “A Heavy Abacus” a like this one too. 3 popcorns

Two Door Cinema Club “Undercover Martyn” upbeat song, boppy and fun 3 popcorns

Third Eye Blind- “If Ever There Was a Time” hmm maybe this one will grow on me, i like 3eb, enjoyed em at the WHFStival very much in 2010. But this song is eh, just sort of there. I dont think i really agree with what they are trying to say here what exactly are the supporting and why. I mean whats the point 3 e b? This whole Wall Street nonsense. arg. Two popcorns.

MMBT- “Like A Shotgun” well they havent changed much since middle school. 2 point 5 pocorns still ok. If i was more of fan id dig it more im sure. Never loved these guys I know rascal king and impression. And now Shotgun. Oh and i have one ep of thier with 4 or 5 covers.

Big Pink- “Stay Gold” dont feel very strongly one way or another. its hard to hear the recording, 2 popcorns

Frank Turner “If Ever I Stray” enjoyable enough and trutful enough, its directness fits its simple little music song. Nice little song. 3 popcorns :) fun a little dark humor but that a good thing.

311 “Count Me In” um most thier songs sound very similar to me and this one is no different. It doesnt stike me as anything new or interesting. Sounds just like sunset in july, and the one before that and the one before that. fans will like it i guess. but they prolly bought this cd. Not for me. 1 and half a broken popcorn. Only because ive been force fed this band for nearly 13 years? more? on songs that so very much the same. i used to call this green day disease, but a least thier last cd was little different i guess. Blink 182 seems to healed themselves from this problem on thier newest offering too from what i’ve heard. But three hundred eleven, i liked the blue cd with alien i had it in 7th grade. But Trasistor and the green one with Flowing and Come Original sounded very much the same. So i sort of gave up after that. Then every new song that they put out just got over played so much that i’d just turn it off if they came on. At one point they had turned a very good cure song into one thier and i couldnt stand it anymore! Im not sure if its over exposure or thier inablity to change but i cant listen to them anymore. And other bands like Offspring, Radiohead and Pearl Jam i still enjoy because, they don’t sound the same every record. (Like how “Creep” sounds nothing like “Lotus Flower”, “Alive” sounds nothing like “The Fixer”, and “Hammerhead” sounds nothing like “Come Out and Play”) Ok. But im sure its a nice little record they made with what 8 songs on it or so, and a lot of Bel Air kids prolly like it very much. :) One day I prolly will to when im 55, and cant stand that damn kids music thats on the radio but not right now.

Never really liked New Found Glory so its no supirse i dont really care for this one either.

Yacht – “I Walked Alone” This is the first ive heard of em. What can i say is that a block of wood/claves? The singer sounded like a skipping cd at the end of way to sentences, no actually way to many words, but the music was interesting, the meleodys were happy, the short instrumental breaks and solos were engaging. At the end of the song I wanted to hear it again, which means it had enough going to be interesting, and if anything its definately has enough hooks and its catchy as hell. I’m suprised I haven’t heard it more since this show was back at the end of Nov. oh well three point five popcorns. I think i liked it!

Misfits “DArk Shadows” They are doing what they do. I actually have a misfits shirt that my sister got me. Why i dont kno. I was never a fan of em. Maybe she was confusing them with the ramones, or the clash. Oh this songs alright. Two popcorns. Nothing special to me, nothing wrong with it either, deceptively textured and polished in production thought.

Cake “Mustache Man” now this one ive heard because so many ppl requested it. Heard it a bit on the radio in december, its good. sounds like a lot of other cake songs. Thier fans must bug the hell out the station to play thier stuff (who am i to talk, i always request stuff. but i request all kind of oddball stuff. u guys are the one who play it which is very cool.)
Oh yea the song. Its good. Sounds like a lot thier stuff. But im not sick of them so it doesnt annoy me the way the 311 song does 3 popcorns

The duke spirit “Dont Wait” I like this one very much! Why the chick singing has a nice voice, i like the guitar tones, and sonicly its very apealing to my ear. 3 popcorns

ok. those are my comments thank u for posting these it is very helpful in deciding which new bands i will give my money to! (in exchange for their art), have a monster week!
