Jake Lloyd . . . Who Played Anakin Skywalker in “The Phantom Menace” . . . Will Never Act Again Because Kids Were Mean to Him in School!
All of you who hated poor little JAKE LLOYD’S performance as young Anakin Skywalker in “Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace” will be happy to hear that he’s THROUGH acting. Don’t lie- you hated the movie and even though he was a little kid who did a fine job, all of you Lucasfilm geeks secretly hated him (jealous much?)
Why is he quitting acting? Because miniature versions of YOU bullied him in school! Jake . . . who turns 23 TODAY (Feeling OLD? me too) says, quote, “Other children were really mean to me. They would make the sound of the light saber every time they saw me. It was totally mad. My entire school life was really a living hell . . . and I had to do up to 60 interviews a day.”
He also reportedly destroyed all his “Star Wars” memorabilia . . . although he does appear at sci-fi and comic book conventions now and then. (Hey, a Jedi’s gotta earn right?)
But he says, quote, “I’ve learned to hate it when the cameras are pointed at me.”
My question is: Does it count as quitting if no one wants to hire you anyway?
In other “Star Wars” news, designer Ralph McQuarrie has died at the age of 82. He came up with the designs for A LOT of what ended up on-screen in the “Star Wars” universe . . . including characters like Darth Vader, Chewbacca, R2D2 and C-3PO. Get the full story HERE
