Jonathan Davis of Korn has exploded through the boundaries of music by bringing a dubstep sound to the latest Korn album, The Path of Totality, and his DJ alter-ego, J-Devil, but the super-charged frontman took that to the next level with a course in bomb disposal training.

While in Germany on tour, Davis reached out to wounded U.S.  soldiers at the Ramstein Air Force Base and slipped into a bomb suit, learning how to operate the “bomb disposal robot.”

In another instance of altruism, a couple days later Korn streamed their Amsterdam concert over their internet for fans worldwide.

"]Before eating lunch with troops and taking photos, Davis had to pass an “egg test” which meant he had to efficiently make his bomb robot not “bomb,” so to speak, at picking up, transporting, and dropping an egg in a bowl. He also took a course in Readiness and Emergency Management: Chemical, Biological, Radiological/Nuclear Warfare Defense Orientation.

Davis, who claimed in a KROQ interview that he just gets in his bus and goes without knowing his next destination, also had words for haters who might doubt his actions or his musical evolution.

“Man, I’ve been in this game so damn long, I do not care,” Davis said. “I really don’t. I do this for the pure art-form of it and love and to challenge myself.”

“I learned a long time ago you can’t make everybody happy so if you have your opinion and think we’re selling out and you don’t like it, don’t listen to it. It’s that simple.”
