Green Day

We’ve heard that Green Day’s next album will be focused on sex. And we’ve seen the band messing with our heads. But now they’ve dropped a huge nugget of news, as they announce that they’ll soon be releasing three new albums within a five-month span.

The albums will be entitled ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré!, and the street dates for their release are slated to be September 25th, November 13th, and January 15th. ”What a way to start off the decade,” says the band, “with three albums.”

[pullquote quote="This is the best music we've ever written, and the songs just keep coming." credit="Green Day, in their press release"]In a press release on their website, the band says, ”We are at the most prolific and creative time in our lives. This is the best music we’ve ever written, and the songs just keep coming. Instead of making one album, we are making a three album trilogy. Every song has the power and energy that represents Green Day on all emotional levels. We just can’t help ourselves… We are going epic as f**k!”

In addition to the press release, the band also posted a video full of scattered clips of conversations about what they’re working on.

And Billy Joe Armstrong has been letting the world know about it on his Twitter account, too.

The band also tells us that they’ll be playing some festivals this summer, although they’ve only announced a few in Japan and Europe so far…and if you attended HFStival 1998 or HFStival 2001, you have a pretty good idea what you’re in for.

Are you excited about this news? Do you think these albums will be a big departure from what they’ve done in the past, or do you think it’s more (a lot more, clearly) of what we’ve been getting from them lately?
