Travis Barker is running out of canvas.
The Blink-182 drummer immortalized his mother this week by tattooing her name, Gloria, under his chin. It’s not the first tattoo Barker’s dedicated to his mother. The Virgin Mary on his forearm is designed to memorialize her as well. The beautiful black and grey tattoo “Gloria” was inked by Chuey Quintanar, a rising star in the tattoo world.
This is the latest in Barker’s vast collection of tattoos which include the Transplants logo (his alternate band) on his head, Cadillac emblems, a boom box, praying hands, Jesus, checkered flags, stars, musical notes, hearts, pinup girls, various phrases in script, flames, a microphone, black and gray smoke and much more.
In a 2006 interview, Barker explains the reason for turning himself into a walking piece of art. “I purposely tattooed my whole body so I wouldn’t have to be a perfect person working at a perfect job in a perfect world. I made it so I had to play music. I had no other choice.”
