For their ninth studio album, it seems as though the boys from Huntington Beach have become a little introspective. “Days Go By,” the title track and first single from The Offspring‘s latest release, gives fans sense that the band may have finally matured. That’s of course if you omit the album track “Cruising California (Bumpin’ In My Trunk),” which shares the same comedic flair as “Pretty Fly (For A White Guy).”

In an interview with Rolling Stone, frontman Dexter Holland lends some insight into the album’s reflective and uplifting feel.

“Part of why I chose ‘Days Go By’ as the single and the title of the album is because it really kind of shows – not only with me – that the world has been through a sh**ty few years and it’s been really tough on a lot of people,” Holland explained. “People have really gotten hurt and, at the end of the day, no one’s gonna pick you up.”

“You’ve gotta pick yourself up and figure out how to move on. So I guess acknowledging that it’s been tough, but also having a message of hope, is what I really wanted people to take away from this record.”

All your anger, all your hurt
Doesn’t matter in the end
Those days go by and we all start again
What you had and what you lost
They’re all memories in the wind
Those days go by and we all start again

Days Go By hits stores June 26th on Colombia Records.
