If anyone remembers the old “Sander’s Corners” restaurant on Cromwell Bridge road, it’s back! Sort of….
In the same cool little out of the way location in the shadow of the Loch Raven dam, the old Sander’s Corners is now “McFaul’s Iron Horse Tavern”.
The menu is a cool take on classic American dishes including some MD faves and there are tons of really great apps and drinks if you’re just looking to hang. The crew I was with pretty much tried a little of everything and everyone agreed the food was great and prices were all very reasonable. PLUS local farms and dairies supply the bulk of the food at McFaul’s so you’re eating and supporting local farms, which is always a good thing.
And they have Lobster Roll, which for me is huge. It’s tough to get good lobster roll anywhere but Maine, and McFaul’s was right on point.
I’m not normally one to gush over a new eatery but what I like about McFaul’s Iron Horse Tavern is that it’s family owned AND they brought a really cool spot back to life. Too often great little buildings like this are left to ruin and it strikes me as such a shame. We are all so willing to jump through hoops to recycle paper and cans (the benefit and efficacy thereof being debatable at best) but cool PLACES get forgotten. Big props to the McFaul family for having the vision (and in this economy the guts!) to breath new life into one such locale.
