Reporters are often told by artist that one of the most exciting moments is when you hear your song on the radio for the first time.

For Walk The Moon this happened in an LA gas station. In a recent interview with Live 105, the band explained “We were pulling into a gas station in LA and we were about to turn the car off. [Sings] You know that opening chord. It was like ‘Wait, Wait, Wait!’”

Months later, “Anna Sun,” the E.P.’s title track is in heavy rotation at radio stations around the world and nearly unavoidable. The band has launched into a rocket-like trajectory picking up new fans at an alarming pace.

Fan photos posted to the band’s social streams show painted faces mimicking the band’s colorful mugs. In an interview with CBS Local, vocalist Nicholas Petricca explained where the face paint originated. “We had this Peter Pan and The Lost Boys thing going on during the “Anna Sun” video shoot. We did the face paint as Captain Hook warpaint kinda thing. For some reason it stuck and has kinda became our trademark.”

Recently, Vevo sent a camera crew to cover the band’s performance of the hit single for music site’s Lift series. Comments on the site share a common sentiment that the video was shot in a way that makes the viewer think they’re in audience.

Walk The Moon’s E.P. Anna Sun is out now with the full length self titled debut album coming June 19th.
