SoCal rock legends Social Distortion have released a new animated music video created by “The Mad Twins” Olya & Vira Ishchuk for the song “Gimme the Sweet and Low Down.” The eye-catching clip “loosely celebrates” the hard knock life and times of Social D leader Mike Ness, with cameos from late rock heroes like Johnny Ramone of the Ramones and Strummer of the Clash.
“Working with Olya & Vira Ishchuk was a great experience,” Mike Ness said to Rolling Stone. “Olya & Vira created this animated piece on their own time as a gift to us, and they nailed it – we didn’t change a thing. Being able to capture the true essence of the song without our input shows The Mad Twins’ artistry, and how talented they truly are.”
The engaging new video comes on the heels of Social Distortion announcing a slew of North American dates in support of their latest album, Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes. Opening acts will include Canadian alt-country artist Lindi Ortega and Atlanta rock band the Biters.
