AFI‘s Davey Havok and Jade Puget form the duo known as Blaqk Audio. For their side project, the two decidedly take a more “electronic” and “darker” approach to the music. They have been rather forthcoming that their latest release is fueled largely by sex with a dash of religion. In an interview with CBS Local, Havok says “It deals with sexual scenarios of different sorts, of various cases and people and environments. It’s rather hedonistic in scope.”
After signing with a new record label, Superball Musuc, Havok and Puget eagerly began sharing bits and pieces of their forthcoming album. The first single titled “Bliss” was made available as a free download. Two other tracks were also available for streaming on their SoundCloud page. The latest track to be released from Bright Black Heaven is titled “Faith Healer,” a jaunt down a slightly darker road.
Havok tells Rolling Stone, “‘Faith Healer’ speaks of one’s search for salvation through misplaced faith in the spiritual while desiring a purely carnal healing. The lyric offers corporeal relief and freedom from an oppressive, malignant dogma.”
Bright Black Heaven is scheduled for release on September 11th with pre-ordering available now via iTunes.
The duo is set to do a string of West Coast dates starting September 6 at the Casbah in San Diego, wrapping up with an already sold out date at the Roxy in West Hollywood on September 14.
