LCD Soundsystem fans still basking in the afterglow of the nationwide theatrical screenings of the band’s farewell documentary, Shut Up and Play the Hits, can relieve the disco-punk heroes’ final bow at Madison Square Garden by downloading the film on iTunes starting today.
The movie, produced by Oscilloscope Studios (famously co-founded by late Beastie Boy Adam Yauch) can be purchased in HD for $12.99 and rented for $4.99. The regular version runs $9.99 to purchase and $3.99 to rent.
Hardcore fans of frontman James Murphy and the band can still look forward to the DVD release of the film, which will be spread across three discs and feature the entire performance from LCD Soundsystem’s last show. Murphy’s label, DFA Records, also promises “some surprise extras.” Pre-ordered copies should arrive in mailboxes around October 9.
