The reigning kings of the reggae-fusion-post-punk-stoner-rock scene, Slightly Stoopid are flying high with the release of their 10th album, Top Of The World.
Top Of The World debuted at #13 on the Billboard 200, #3 on Billboard’s Independent Albums chart and #4 on Billboard’s Rock & Alternative chart.
“It’s a good feeling to have our best-ever Billboard debut,” said Slightly Stoopid’s singer/guitarist Miles Doughty. “We owe it all to our fans for their incredible loyalty and support.”
To celebrate the new album, the band will break from their Unity Tour schedule to webcast tomorrow’s live performance from the Red Bull Sound Space at KROQ beginning at 4:20PM PT / 7:20PM ET. The six-man band will squeeze onto the pint-sized stage for a session of fan Q&A as well as a live plugged-in performance.
“Without the fans, we’d just be playing at the bar,” confesses singer/guitarist Kyle McDonald. “They make it worth our while. When we go out and people are having that good of a time, the energy goes back and forth. Just a good time – we rely on each other’s energy.”
Since signing to Bradley Nowell’s (late Sublime frontman) as teenagers back in 1995, Slightly Stoopid has had the honor of playing with Pennywise, the Dave Matthews Band, Damian Marley, Sublime, the Roots, The Expendables, Snoop Dogg, G. Love & Special Sauce, Ozomatli and many more. “Getting that Skunk name on the Stoopid brand, and they really opened a lot of doors for us, Miles Doughty tells The Pier. “They taught us how to tour, stay on the road and be a touring act. Just how to play music the way you want to play it! Don’t follow the guidelines of someone else. Just play the music from your heart and get your ass on the road!”
