Mitt Romney Would Like A White House Concert With The Killers
As the Republican Presidential candidate, Mitt Romney and wife Ann are being besieged with questions ranging from their personal finances to their favorite foods. Following the hoopla over VP candidate Paul Ryan’s choice in music (Rage Against The Machine), the Romneys are next on the list to reveal their favorite artists, one of which may come as a surprise.
In an interview with Parade Magazine, Mitt revealed that, if elected, the couple would open up the East Room and offer “a performance of some kind,” with the goal of “making people feel welcome there.” When asked to get more specific, Romney offered some musical suggestions. The candidate said he’d “certainly want to hear from the Beach Boys, even though I know it’s not the same group it used to be.” Continuing to name groups he’d like see live in The White House, Romney, names “Garth Brooks and Kenny Chesney and Toby Keith, and today’s rock stars—The Killers are one group I enjoy.”
When Mitt points out that not all of the artists agree with their politics and some may even turn down the offer to play The White House, Mrs. Romney is quick to jump in saying, “No, they would die to be mentioned.”
With any luck, The Romneys will extend an offer to their fellow Mormons in The Killers. The timing would be perfect as the Las Vegas band will have just released their latest album, Battle Born (September 18th).
