Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong To Seek Substance Abuse Treatment, Red Bull Sound Space Webcast Cancelled

After Friday’s meltdown during a radio festival performance, all eyes were on Green Day‘s Billie Joe Armstrong. Fans were left guessing as to the cause of his actions on stage.

In a statement issued to the press today, the band apologized for the on-stage rant and says that the frontman will seek help.

“Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong is seeking treatment for substance abuse.” The release goes on to say, “The band regretfully must postpone some of their upcoming promotional appearances.”

The cancelled “promotional appearances” include Monday’s Red Bull Sound Space webcast, which had been scheduled for 3PM PT.
