“I don’t hate it for the culture, I love it for the culture. I don’t hate it for the artists. I hate it for the f***ing sound,” Joel Zimmerman a.k.a. Deadmau5 says about dubstep in an interview with Fuse.
Deadmau5 has been outspoken in his growing and yet misunderstood hatred of the movement. Many EDM fans assumed he was upset over the genre’s recent explosion into pop culture. But according to the Canadian dance music producer, “the sound is like a “f*** you to every audio engineer in the world because… kids go out and they want it loud, loud loud. You’ve got a volume knob for that dude. And if it’s not loud enough, buy an amp and some better speakers.”

The producer goes on to describe how dubstep producers ruin the music’s dynamics by compressing the audio, leaving the recording with little or no subtleties.
“It’s interesting to see what’s happened in dance music because of the lack of engineering, as opposed to what sh**’s hot.”
Speaking of what’s hot. Deadmau5 himself is on fire, not for his music, but his sightings throughout Hollywood with the new girlfriend, LA Ink star, Kat Von D.
