Blink-182‘s Travis Barker and teammate in tattoos, Yelawolf, became fast friends last year. After skateboarding funnyman and practical joker Rob Dyrdek forced an introduction, the two immediately began recording music in Barker’s home studio.
Within months, the duo had unknowingly created an E.P. Upon hearing a few of the raw tracks, a friend of Yelawolf deemed the tunes some “psycho whiteboy sh*t.” And the name was born: Psycho White. Barker went so far as to give the Alabama native his own clothing line, Country Fresh, within his popular Famous Straps & Straps brand.
Under the Psycho White name, they first released “Push ‘Em,” an ultra fast-paced beat-heavy punk-rock themed club banger.
And just in time for Halloween, Barker and Yelawolf have released “Whitle Dixie,” a deathly-themed video set in a morgue featuring legendary bad-ass Danny Trejo presiding over a dead body while and a legion of marching snare drum-toting Second Line-style skeletons march through a spooky cemetery.
Psycho White Track List:
- “Push ‘Em” (Ft. Skinhead Rob, Tim Armstrong)
- 6 Feet Underground (Ft. Tim Armstrong)
- Funky Sh*t
- Whistle Dixie
- Director’s Cut
CBS Local caught up with Barker and Yelawolf on the set of “Push ‘Em.” The two provided a rundown of each track.
Psycho White‘s self-titled E.P. is due November 13 through Famous Stars & Straps.
