Ever since shutting down the NIN machine for the time being, he’s teamed up with Atticus Ross to score movie The Social Network (and win an Oscar and Golden Globe award in the process), write music for much anticipated new videogame Call of Duty Black Ops 2 and even inked a deal with Beats by Dre on what’s being called “interesting projects.”
Reznor has also kick-started a new band, How To Destroy Angels, with his wife Mariqueen Maandig, formerly of West Indian Girl. After releasing their eponymous 2010 debut for free online, the outfit (which also includes the aforementioned Ross and Rob Sheridan) has signed a deal with Columbia Records to put out a new EP, An Omen, scheduled for release on November 13.
How to Destroy Angels (often abbreviated as HTDA) have released a moody in-studio performance video for the EP’s first single, “Keep it Together.” With Reznor on guitar and backing vocals and Sheridan and Ross manipulating various pieces of electronic equipment, singer Maandig dominates the clip with her hushed vocals and striking profile.
In the run up to the EP release, How to Destroy Angels have also released a percolating new dance floor remix of “Keep it Together,” courtesy of UK electronic music group Factory Floor that can be heard (and legally downloaded) on the HDTA Soundcloud page.
