Trent Reznor Teases New Nine Inch Nails Music, Tour
Sometimes, it can be so hard to say goodbye.
Nine Inch Nails fans the world over mourned what seemed to be the end of the wildly popular and pioneering industrial rock moniker when mastermind Trent Reznor set off on a high-profile NIN farewell tour back in 2009.
In the time since, Reznor hasn’t exactly been on vacation, given his Oscar-winning soundtrack work for movies like The Social Network, launching new band How To Destroy Angels with his wife Mariqueen Maandig and signing a mysterious and still undefined deal with headphone giant Beats By Dre.
Reznor and frequent collaborator Atticus Ross have also been drafted to craft the music for highly anticipated new video game Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, which is due for release on November 13 and is poised to be the biggest game launch in history.
While talking to Rolling Stone about the game’s soundtrack, Reznor was inevitably asked about the possibility of something new from Nine Inch Nails. Much to the surprise and delight of fans everywhere, he reported that the future is looking bright for fresh NIN material.
“All signs point to yes,” Reznor said in regards to an upcoming Nine Inch Nails release. “Yeah, there will be new music. There are some things in the works.”
Reznor went on to tease the chances of Nine Inch Nails ever hitting the road again, explaining that “if it feels right, it’s a possibility. I never said that that wasn’t going to happen, just that it couldn’t go on as it was. Having a few years doing other things, I’ve enjoyed [them] and I’m enjoying doing How to Destroy Angels, and there will be a place for stuff that falls in the Nine Inch Nails column of things. It’s a different kind of work.”
A new How To Destroy Angels EP, simply titled An Omen, is scheduled for release on November 13.
