Superstar UK progressive rockers Muse have been forced to cancel a grip of European concerts after lead singer Matt Bellamy broke his foot, according to a statement on the band’s website.

“We’re very sorry to have to announce that Muse’s forthcoming shows in Oslo, Stockholm and Malmo have been cancelled as Matt has broken two bones in his foot,” they explained in the statement. “The band have therefore made the difficult decision to cancel these gigs as they feel that they will not be able to do justice to their live show and the fans who have bought tickets with Matt performing on crutches. “

The statement also assured fans that refunds for the cancelled shows will be available at the point of purchase.

While the band didn’t specify how Bellamy broke his foot, a fan asked him what happened via Twitter, and the singer responded.

Hopefully, Bellamy’s foot should be healed and ready to rock when Muse launches the U.S. leg of their world tour in support of new album The 2nd Law on January 21 in San Diego, CA, followed by two shows at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on January 23 and 24.
