The GRAMMY pre-telecast gave out its first award for Best Short Form Music video to Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris for “We Found Love.” The video, directed by Melina Matsoukas and shot in Belfast and Bangor, Northern Ireland, was lauded on its release for its gritty, realistic and distinctly European feel. Kicking off with a spoken word introduction performed by model Agyness Deyn, the video portrays a drug-fueled and turbulent relationship between Rihanna and British male model Dudley O’Shaughnessy — who bears a remarkable physical resemblance to Rihanna’s on-again/off-again boyfriend Chris Brown.
In quick order Best Long Form Music Video followed, garnering Mumford & Sons their first GRAMMY of the evening, alongside tour mates Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes and Old Crow Medicine Show. The tour film, the Big Easy Express, follows the trio of bands on a cross-country trip, starting in California and ending in New Orleans, on a vintage train.
The award was accepted by the film’s director, Emmett Malloy, saying, “Thanks to the bands for letting us join a pretty remarkable trip that we’ll remember forever.”
