Tonight’s HFS Locals Only Spotlight features Technicians, a four-piece post-punk/indie band from the D.C. area.
The band’s founders, Navid Marvi (vocals, guitar) and Nick Glover (guitar, vocals), as students at American University, wrote a bunch of songs together and decided they had something awesome, so they filled out the band with Ryan Hobbs (bass, vocals) and Steve Smith (drums) and hit the ground with what they had going. A year later, they’ve got a bunch of shows under their belt and an album in the works that they’ve been recording at DC’s legendary Inner Ear Studios.
Influences? They’ve got plenty, ranging from Faith No More, Tool, and Rage Against The Machine to Minus The Bear, Radiohead, and The Cure.
Volume and intensity? They’ve got plenty of that, too.
If you like what you hear, check out their upcoming live show at the Velvet Lounge in D.C. on April 4th, and keep their website and Facebook page handy. And if you’ve got a local band you’d like us to feature on the HFS Locals Only Spotlight weeknights at 9 PM, here’s how to get your stuff to us.
