The godfathers of Southern California punk rock have released a video celebrating the title track to their 16^th and latest latest album, True North.

The subject of Bad Religion’s new video is a teenager who’s been bitten by the punk rock bug.

Clocking in at just over two minutes and shot in black and white, the video gets right to the point. The well-coiffed boy flips down a vinyl copy of the band’s new album on an mid-70′s style record player and uses the “True North” as inspiration to get ready for the night. Beating drum sticks against his knees, he’s presumably in a band or a wanna-be drummer. The old-school punk posters lining his wall and stacks of vinyl records is juxtaposed by him whipping out an iPhone to text a friend. After strapping on some signature punk apparel he slips out through the back door, one can only assume without his parent permission.

Instead of slowing down like one would imagine from a band that’s been putting albums out since 1982, Bad Religion were inspired by Epitaph buddies Pennywise and their super-sized, super-charged punk sound.

“I thought it was a return to their greatest record,” confessed Gurewitz to Radio.com. “It really inspired me and I thought, ‘We can do that.’ It made me want to write a tough record.”
