What do you get when you team three of the hottest dance music producers with former MTV execs? Potato. No, not the vegetable but a new YouTube channel dedicated to music. The channel is a joint venture between management firms TMWRK and Blood Company, and content producer Iconic TV, responsible for the Jay-Z’s Life & Times channel.
Yesterday (February 2) the company’s Potato channel posted the first episode in its music-documentary style series titled Bang! The installment explores a surface look at Detroit’s long history with techno music and gives a voice to local mainstays like Kevin Saunderson. Shot during a New Year’s Eve gig in the Motor City, Skrillex and Boys Noize also make an appearance in the bite-sized documentary.
In addition to Potato’s Bang! series, upcoming programs include Blow Your Head, Cosmo’s Crates, Shortcuts, Listen Up with Ralph Moore, Video Killed The Radio and something called Big Time #1 Super Adventures With Fat Jew. This could get interesting.
