Tonight’s HFS Locals Only Spotlight features The Grey Area, a blues rock band from Washington, DC.
Like the bands that influenced them, The White Stripes and The Black Keys, there are only two members in the band, but the end product is music that sounds like it came from an army of musiciams. Their impressive live show has been included in South By Southwest showcases; they’ve been noticed by MTV.com, NME, and a ton of regional press outlets; and in 2011 they were nominated for three “Wammies” from the Washington Area Music Awards, including New Artist Of The Year and Video Of The Year.
Their latest EP, 508, was released about a year ago, and they’ll be at South By Southwest again this month, catching more ears and looking to break out big. In the meantime, check out their song “Sugar, From You”, and see what they’re up to on their website and their Facebook page.
And if you’ve got a local band you’d like us to feature on the HFS Locals Only Spotlight one of these weeknights at 9 PM, here’s how to get your stuff to us.
