Fitz And The Tantrums Prepare For Bruno Mars Tour Dates
With their single “Out Of My League” burning up the airwaves nationwide and being tagged to hit the road for select dates on Bruno Mars‘ “Moonshine Jungle World Tour,” Fitz and The Tantrums are poised to become a household name. After touring with Maroon 5 in 2009 and becoming a mainstay at premiere music festivals, the Los Angles based band is no stranger to playing big stages in front of huge crowds.
Frontman Michael “Fitz” Fitzpatrick revealed that playing these big shows has been kind of a surprise to the band. “I don’t know why but people think we are worthy of playing on the main stage.” Fitz told Live 105/San Francisco, “We’ve been getting almost every festival we’ve done from Lollapalooza to Coachella and Outside Lands.”
If you have ever had the chance to catch Fitz live or one of their many TV appearances, you’ll know that their signature frantic and animated performances might have something to do with their main stage bookings. When, as Fitzpatrick explained, put on “knock down drag out hot sweaty mess dance party of a show,” you tend to win over just about any crowd. Another factor in the bands recent success has been their genre straddling sound. The band is just as at home with alternative as with more mainstream pop acts.
“Ultimately, we’ve never tried to limit ourselves in terms of what influences us. There are 6 of us in the band and we all have very diverse tastes.” Commented Fitzpatrick, “We kind of let all those different influences feed themselves into the record. We’re really tried to make a hybrid sound of something that is truly our own.”
