Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Flaming Lips Playing Brooklyn’s Great GoogaMooga Fest
Back for its second year, the event billed as the “amusement park” of food, drink and music will take place in Prospect Park from May 17 to the 19. The event, which expanded from two days to three this year, will include a (not-so-gratis) kickoff concert on Friday night that will feature hometown rockers the Yeah Yeah Yeahs (whose new album drops one month earlier), The Flaming Lips and The Darkness. Matt & Kim will headline the second night (free), with Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings closing out the three-day festivities (also free).
While last year’s festival featured a performance by Hall & Oates, this year is a diverse mix of artists including New York hip-hop greats De La Soul, indie-pop band Cults, eccentric folkie Father John Misty, singer-songwriter Sharon Van Etten, instrumental pop band Delicate Steve, soul legend Lee Fields & The Expressions, and Mexican brass band Banda de los Muertos, just to name a few.
