Seattle’s most famous record label Sub Pop has released a video to announce the lineup for its 25th Anniversary festival called the Silver Jubilee. The “silver statesmen” used in the video to make the announcement include famed producer Jack Endino, Mudhoney frontman (and Sub Pop Warehouse manager) Mark Arm, Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil and Tad Doyle of the band Tad (currently with Brothers of the Sonic Cloth).
For those of you who are good at lip-reading, you’ll notice at the one-minute mark, Doyle yells (what looks like) “Soundgarden!”
In 2008, Sub Pop celebrated their 20th anniversary with a concert event that featured a reunion by Green River – a band that featured Mark Arm and Steve Turner (before they were in Mudhoney) as well as Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament (who would go on to form Mother Love Bone, and, later, Pearl Jam).
