This Just In: Hanni El Khatib “Family”

If you dig gritty blues rock or gritty old-school punk rock…and if you like The Black Keys, but wish their sound was more raw, dirty and rowdy…you’ll love this.

I present for your consideration a furious new song by Hanni El Khatib, a Southern Californian dude who loves skateboarding as much as he loves rock and roll. You’ve probably heard some of his music in a handful of commercials, including a controversial Audi ad that ran during this year’s Super Bowl.

He describes his music as being for “anyone who has ever been shot or hit by a train”. Florence Welch was impressed enough by his work to bring him on tour with her, and Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys opted to produce his new album, Head In The Dirt, which hits stores on April 30th.

This song, the lead single from the aforementioned album, is called “Family”. Grab a cheap beer, turn this up, and let me know what you think of it!

Oh, and here’s the NSFW, quasi-Tarantino-ish video for the song, featuring a crazy, nearly-nude Japanese motorcycle gang who thrive on beer, sex, and campfire-roasted squids…
