While anticipation can’t seem to get any higher for the release of Daft Punk’s forthcoming Random Access Memories album, the first single, “Get Lucky,” is set to debut tonight at midnight eastern time, 9 p.m. pacific time.
The song was introduced to the world back on March 2 with the first airing of the Random Access Memories TV commercial during Saturday Night Live. That 15-second snippet of “Get Lucky” was remixed and re-edited into countless versions, including the popular video featuring Parks and Recreation character Ron Swanson dancing to the funky disco groove, which also features production legend Nile Rodgers (of the band Chic) on guitar.
Pharrell Williams’ participation in the song was revealed at the first weekend of this year’s Coachella, when a video teaser featuring a longer cut of “Get Lucky,” including the Neptunes producer on vocals, was aired just moments before the Yeah Yeah Yeahs took the stage. Audio from that video was also re-edited into even more online versions, some of which were mistaken for the real thing.
