Sam sits down with Iain and Lauren from Chvrches out of Glasgow, Scotland.
Sam asks them what sort of music influenced their style, which is a blend of synthpop and rock genres. Iain appreciated her picking up on the rock element in their style. The group all come from the classic guitar and drums rock style. They are also very influenced by the music they grew up listening to, such as Prince, Depeche Mode, Cindy Lauper, Madonna and other 80s electronic pop. They also like the film and horror scores from movies such as Terminator and Blade Runner and John Carpenter films. They also take some influence from modern Hip-Hop and such.
They’ve been very busy as of late with touring and festivals from London to the States for the past month. They’re looking forward to getting back home but they’ve loved being on tour. The highlight of their trip would have to be when they went on the Jimmy Fallon Show. Iain even remarked “It was a lot of fun. It was absolutely terrifying though. I don’t think I’ve ever been so nervous before playing.”
Just arriving at the festival they were mainly just getting settled but looking forward to checking out some of the other bands that were performing. Iain said he’s never seen Tom Petty before and was really looking forward to it. Lauren wanted to see the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s.
