It’s a tradition as old as the Johnny Carson show: Most nights, since 1966, bands big and small play on the national stage of late night television. Sometimes good things happen, sometimes bad things happen, but the performances are always worth watching. They’re captivating mostly because they offer the raw sound of a live band and the professional video and audio recording of a late night television show.

This week, August 12-16, sees the return of lots of artists we’ve seen a few times already this summer: the National, Edward Sharpe, Selena Gomez, Pokey LaFarge, Snoop Lion, Luke Bryan, Kacey Musgraves, Paramore—the list goes on and on. There’s even a whole week of Justin Timberlake repeats. But in a sea of repear appearances, a few lesser-known (but very talented) artists like Radio.com’s recent New Music To Know pick Hanni El Khatib, Hiatus Kaiyote and Kimbra get a chance to stand out.

Late Show With David Letterman
Monday, August 12 – Pokey LaFarge
Tuesday, August 13 – Hanni El Khatib

Khatib hits the stage to perform a song off his recent Dan Auerbach-produced album, Head In The Dirt.

Wednesday, August 14 – Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes
Thursday, August 15 – Snoop Lion
Friday, August 16 – Ra Ra Riot

Jimmy Kimmel Live
Monday, August 12 – The National
Tuesday, August 13 – Luke Bryan
Wednesday, August 14 – The Wanted
Thursday, August 15 – Big Sean
Friday, August 16 – Michael Kiwanuka

The Tonight Show With Jay Leno
Monday, August 12 – Hiatus Kaiyote

Hiatus Kaiyote is Australia’s band-sized answer to the jazzy R&B of British songstresses like Joss Stone and Amy Winehouse. With light, new-wavey keys more suited to a lounge than the club, Hiatus Kaiyote bring something new to American airwaves, and it’s beautifully appropriate for the late night time slot.

Tuesday, August 13 – Kacey Musgraves
Wednesday, August 14 – Barenaked Ladies
Thursday, August 15 – Il Volo
Friday, August 16 – Selena Gomez
