Concert Review: Arctic Monkeys At The Fox Theater, Oakland
Known for their rousing live performances since they emerged on the indie scene in 2005, Arctic Monkeys did not disappoint in night two of their recent shows at Oakland’s Fox Theater.
From start to finish the UK band and frontman Alex Turner burned through a blistering set including songs off their recently released studio album AM and tracks from four previous releases. The sold out crowd – many decked out in ex-patriot union jacks and UK soccer jerseys – received both new tracks like “Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?” and classics like “I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor” with equal enthusiasm.
Returning for the encore the Sheffield band put a period on the end of a near flawless set with frenzied rendition of their recent single “Are You Mine?.”
The band will head south to Los Angeles to play two sold out shows at the Wiltern, September 30 and October 1. Hours before they take the Wiltern stage, the band will live stream an intimate performance and Q&A session from the Red Bull Sounds Space. Watch live, beginning at 1:00 p.m. PDT via KROQ.com.
