Thirty Seconds To Mars’ documentary Artifact, chronicling their war with record label EMI, has finally been given a proper release date. But you won’t be able to see it in a theater near you.
The doc, which the band began promoting back in 2010 and won the Toronto International Film Festival’s BlackBerry People’s Choice Documentary Award in 2012, will be available on demand through iTunes, Amazon and several other platforms via independent distributor, FilmBuff on Dec. 5.
Despite being in the promotional mode for his role in Dallas Buyers Club, 30STM frontman Jared Leto is happy that his fans will finally have a chance to see what really happened after the band broke ties with EMI, who in 2008 sued the band for $30 million dollars for alleged breach of contract and damages. Leto also directed Artifact under his Bartholomew Cubbins pseudonym, which he uses in his various 30STM video projects.
