Franz Ferdinand’s Alex Kapranos Makes Nice With Pharrell
By Courtney E. Smith
Last Friday (Jan. 31), Kapranos accused Pharrell of stealing a riff or, as he so cheekily put it, “borrowing” a line from the rock band’s 2004 hit “Take Me Out” for a track the latter produced for Paloma Faith called “Can’t Rely On You.”
But now it seems that he’s ready to take it all back.
Earlier today (February 3), Kapranos tweeted, “@Pharrell Sometimes I forget how easily things can get exaggerated on here. I know you didn’t borrow any riffs. Sorry for all the press BS.”
With Pharrell keeping quiet on the matter—mainly because he has been using his Twitter almost entirely to address the matter of that hat he wore to the GRAMMYs—it’s unclear to why exactly Kapranos had such a quick change of heart. Maybe Pharrell offered to produce Franz’s upcoming album. He is a GRAMMY-winning producer after all.
