HFS Locals Only Spotlight: Western Star “Thousand Heartaches”
Tonight’s HFS Locals Only Spotlight features Western Star from Bergton, Virginia. Here’s their story:
Raised mostly in a holler on the border of West Virginia and Virginia, formed this past summer while working on a cattle ranch in East Texas, this family band is a second generation alt-country four piece that brings garage-rock speed and power, southern rock harmonies and straight up kickassery to their music. Were excited to share the stage with Old 97s in 2013.
This Saturday night, they’ll be at the Sidebar to headline the second night of RABTFest, one of many shows throughout the year that benefit Feed The Scene, a local DIY bed and breakfast that gives cash-strapped bands a free meal and a free place to crash when they’re playing Baltimore. Saturday night’s lineup also includes local bands Head of Power (punk) and Paul Newman and the Ride Home (DIY Folk-funk-pop-core), plus a few other regional favorites.
Check out more about Western Star on their website and on their Facebook page…and if you’ve got a local band you’d like us to feature on the HFS Locals Only Spotlight one of these weeknights at 8 PM, here’s how to get your stuff to us.
