The glammy Australian dance music duo Empire of the Sun has seen success in its native country and the UK with dance floor fillers and frequently licensed jams like “Walking on a Dream” and “Alive”.
But up until now, Empire of the Sun frontman Luke Steele has made waves only off-stage in the United States, songwriting for Jay Z, Beyoncé and Usher, plus making commissioned remixes for Lady Gaga and Yoko Ono.
With its latest single, “Celebrate,” Empire of the Sun might be taking a run at stateside fame for itself, with a remix series featuring American EDM star Steve Aoki among mostly Australian producers. Volume one of the “Celebrate” remixes is released February 18. Volume two arrives February 25. You can listen to the remixes below (via Rolling Stone).
The duo is playing one of a handful of American dates at Ultra Music Festival in Miami on March 29, their second appearance there.
