Today’s Wayback Wednesday takes us back to the early 90’s. I’m not too sure how this band popped into my head but I’m thinking it had something to do with a playlist I was streaming the other day full of early 90’s alternative and brit pop. I heard some Blur, some Happy Mondays and Soup Dragons. Out of nowhere, I remembered Ned’s Atomic Dustbin. I LOVED Ned’s back in the day. In fact, they played one of my favorite HFStivals of all time in 1993.
Look at this lineup: INXS, Iggy Pop, Ned’s Atomic Dustbin, Stereo MCs, Belly, Matthew Sweet, The Posies, X and Velocity Girl. A massive food fight broke out on the field of RFK during Matthew Sweet and INXS was so late closing the show we almost decided to leave before they came on.
Ned’s original lineup disbanded in 1995 but reformed in 2008 and remain a band to this day. They don’t play out much but recently did a Nedstock Festival in the UK and have a show in May of this year as well. Check out what Ned’s have been up to at nedsatomicdustbin.com.
In trying to figure out what Ned’s song I would feature today, I was torn. I was originally going with Grey Cell Green or Happy but then I remembered this one. Funnily enough, I always forget about it even though it is their biggest hit in the US, reaching #1 on the Modern Rock charts. From 1992’s Are You Normal? , this is Not Sleeping Around:
