Charli XCX just released her debut, True Romance, last year, but she’s already working on its followup. And for this upcoming release, she plans to bring in the big guns. Namely, Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo and Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij.
In an interview with Complex, the Brit broke the news that had been in the studio with the two rockers.
“I did a cool session with Rivers from Weezer, which was awesome,” she said. “And I did a session with Rostam from Vampire Weekend. And just like loads of stuff I want to do for myself. I know everyone says this about records they make, but really this is like my favorite thing I’ve ever done. And the best thing I’ve ever done, I think.”
She admitted the album does indeed have a title, but she’s not quite ready to reveal. “I need to tell some friends before I tell anyone else,” she explained.
Unfortunately, Charli wasn’t willing to reveal any other details about those collabos. But maybe this photo of her and Rostam hanging out, which she posted 2 weeks ago, will add to the excitement of their team up.
The album, which has no release date as of yet, is set to feature “SuperLove,” a song she released at the end of last year that has her singing about her whiskey wasted and beautiful beau.
