A week ahead of the album’s release date (Apr 1), The Used are streaming their sixth full length titled Imaginary Enemy, a follow-up to their 2012 release Vulnerable.
“We the people, in order to form a more perfect planet, must question the way the world works – and where the world is heading,” said The Used frontman, Bert McCracken, in a statement about the new album. “Some view art as a way of escaping reality; others view art as a mirror reflecting our sometimes sad society; we believe art can be a weapon, used to shape the very world we live in.”
The album opens with “Revolution,” where McCracken urges, “So from now on I pledge allegiance/ To a world that’s so much different / Where no one suffers, everyone is free / Revolution starts with me.” This passionate optimism lies at the core of Imaginary Enemy.
For Imaginary Enemy, the band once again teamed with famed alt-rock/punk producer John Feldmann, who’s worked with The Used since their start in 2001. Feldman has produced and co-written songs dozens of artists including Neon Trees, Good Charlotte and Plain White Tees.
