Wayne Coyne Giving 2 Unknown Acts Chance to Play Bonnaroo
By Kevin Rutherford
Playing Bonnaroo is the chance of a lifetime for many a budding musical act; after all, it’s one of the premier music festivals in the United States. Wayne Coyne will be there with his Flaming Lips, and he wants your band to be there, too.
According to SPIN, the frontman will help select two acts to perform at the Tennessee fest when it rolls around this June. It’s all part of a contest enacted by Billboard and Sonicbids, the latter a platform allowing smaller bands to gain notoriety.
Both acts will receive performing slots at Bonnaroo and the free publicity that comes from getting one’s name on the lineup, in addition to a $1,000 performance fee and two VIP tickets.
Interested acts should apply on the Sonicbids website. All that’s required is a $10 application fee, which is then submitted to the Bonnaroo Works Fund, a supporter of various n0n-profits on both national and local levels.
Submissions close April 25, giving ample time to put in an application (or even start a band) and even more time before Bonnaroo itself rolls around June 12-15 in Manchester, Tenn.
