According to AOL, home of the new docu-series, So Much More With Laura Jane Grace will follow the Against Me! singer across the country as she promotes the band’s latest album, Transgender Dysphoria Blues. The series takes an intimate look at Grace, who came out as a woman in 2012, as well as other members of the trans community “whose experiences are woefully underrepresented and misunderstood in the media,” said the network on the video preview page.
“I just want to make a connection,” Grace says in the series’ trailer. “There are selfish reasons for that, of not wanting to feel like I’m alone in the world. But that’s what I hope is that it gives other people too. Like, they feel that they’re not alone in the world.”
“There have definitely been people that have come out and said they were inspired by what I did, but I always try to drive it home the fact to them that making that connection is the support that I need too,” she insisted about any newly acquired hero status in a recent interview with Radio.com. “Part of coming out and being public with it is that I was really isolated where I was in St. Augustine (Florida). I didn’t know a single other transsexual or transgender person. So having the opportunity to meet people, just though being open… If they’re looking for support from me, I’m looking for an equal amount of support from them.”
So Much More With Laura Jane Grace is one of more than a dozen new reality series launching soon on AOL’s On Originals.
