First Marcus Mumford drops the banjo, now he’s going hip-hop?
Mumford said the producer, who worked on ‘Ye and Jay Z‘s Watch the Throne, is helping him learn to “chop up beats.” “That’s really fun for me,” he told the mag.
Though some may think this musical change comes out of nowhere, Mumford explains he’s always had a love for hip-hop. And clearly respects the genre, since he recently told Billboard that Kanye was the “only rock star left.”
“I went to that Kanye gig in London recently, and I grew up listening to Jurassic 5 and Nas,” Mumford told the mag.
And whether you believe him about his hip-hop head roots or not or think this is going to ruin the legacy of his current band, Mumford has a message for you.
