Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo was joined on stage by his father Frank during the band’s recent gig in Irvine, California, reported NME. Frank played drums.
The Weezer account celebrated the event on social media with a video and the following caption: “For only the second time, Rivers is joined by his dad Frank Cuomo on stage, at #irvinemeadows on 8/6/16. Frank was a jazz percussionist in NYC in the late 60’s, and brought a fine flavor to Beverly Hills, layering up sweetly over Pats massive backbeats.”
During another show, this one in San Diego, Cuomo’s nine-year-old daughter Mia joined the band on keys. Watch clips of both performances below.
Cuomo recently discussed Weezer’s next album with NME: “I think it’s going to maybe be like Beach Boys gone bad. I’m thinking of swearing, which is something I’ve never done in songs. If it were a movie in the United States it would be rated R instead of PG.”
Cuomo added that the band could return to the recording studio as soon as October.
